Information Regarding Change of Kindergarten Age Requirement

LARAMIE, Wyo. (January 18, 2021) – The Wyoming state legislature recently passed House Bill 0174, which includes section 21-4-302 that changed the age requirement for registering for kindergarten.

Under the new law, students must turn five on or before August 1of this year. Previously, the cutoff date was if the child turned five on or before September 15 of the school year.

BIG NEWS!

We are in the process of being approved by WDE and USDA to change from the National School Lunch Program to the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).  We fed students for free under the SFSP April through August. This meansthat everyone has the option of having breakfast and lunch at no charge to them. The SFSP program and meal pattern requirements are different and will result in the following changes:

  • We will only have 1 entree at breakfast and lunch.
  • Breakfast will consist of a cold entree, white milk, and a juice.
  • Lunch will consist of either a cold or hot entree with a fruit and vegetable and a chocolate milk.
  • Ala carte items or drinks are not available for purchase.
  • This replaces our current meal plans.
  • We hope that this will last through this fall.

Yes, you read that right!  For the next couple of months, your child has the option to receive free breakfasts and lunches every day.  This is available to ALL students.

What can we do to get this for my child?

That is a great question!  Simply use the Google Form link below to sign up.  That is it!  I want to honor this program by not having wasted meals.  We will make extras everyday, but I would like our daily count to be close to who is interested.  Look over the attached menu and then fill out the form.  Teachers will be checking with you on Friday to confirm meal choices.****
